he Marangu Route is often referred to as the "Coca-Cola Route" due to its popularity and availability of amenities along the way. It is considered one of the more straightforward routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, making it a popular choice for many climbers.
The Marangu Route offers climbers the convenience of sleeping in huts along the route, providing shelter, meals, and basic amenities. However, it's important to note that the Marangu Route has a lower success rate compared to other routes due to its shorter acclimatization period. Proper preparation, physical fitness, and understanding of the altitude challenges are essential for a successful summit attempt.
Upon your arrival in Moshi, Tanzania, you will be greeted by Our representatives. They will provide you with a briefing about the climb and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. You will spend the night in a hotel in Moshi, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
In the morning, you will be transferred from Moshi to the Marangu Gate, the starting point of the Marangu Route. After completing the registration process, your trekking journey will begin. The trail takes you through lush rainforest, filled with various species of plants and wildlife. You will gradually ascend to the Mandara Hut, located at an elevation of approximately 2,700 meters (8,858 feet) above sea level. This campsite provides comfortable dormitory-style accommodation for your overnight stay.
Leaving the Mandara Hut, you will continue your ascent through the rainforest, gradually transitioning into the moorland zone. The trail offers scenic views of the surrounding landscapes and the opportunity to spot unique flora and fauna. As you ascend, you will reach the Horombo Hut, situated at around 3,720 meters (12,204 feet) above sea level. This campsite provides dormitory-style accommodation and serves as a vital acclimatization stop. You will spend the night at the Horombo Hut.
After a restful night at the Horombo Hut, you will resume your trek towards the Kibo Hut. The trail takes you through the alpine desert, where the vegetation becomes sparse, and the landscape opens up. As you approach the Kibo Hut, located at approximately 4,703 meters (15,430 feet), the air becomes thinner, and the challenge intensifies. This campsite serves as the starting point for the final summit push. You will spend the night at the Kibo Hut, preparing mentally and physically for the next day's ascent.
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek as you aim to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak. You will wake up in the middle of the night and begin your ascent under the starry sky. The trek to the summit is steep and demanding, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the peak is unparalleled. After witnessing the sunrise from Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), you will start your descent back to the Kibo Hut. Following a brief rest, you will continue your descent to the Horombo Hut, situated at approximately 3,720 meters (12,204 feet). You will spend the night at the Horombo Hut, celebrating your successful summit and resting.
On the final day of the trek, you will descend from the Horombo Hut through the lush rainforest. The trail takes you back to the Marangu Gate, where you will receive your summit certificates. It's a time to reflect on your achievement and bid farewell to the mountain. From the gate, you will be transferred back to Moshi, where you can celebrate your accomplishment and rest after the challenging climb.
Please note that the actual duration of each day's trekking may vary depending on the pace of the group, weather conditions, and individual fitness levels. It's important to consult with your trekking company and guide to plan and prepare accordingly.
