Upon your arrival in Moshi, Tanzania, you will be greeted by Our representatives. They will provide you with a briefing about the climb and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. You will spend the night in a hotel in Moshi, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
The trek begins as you are transferred from Moshi to the Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the Lemosho Route, situated at approximately 2,360 meters (7,740 feet) above sea level. From here, you will venture into the lush rainforest, surrounded by the beauty of nature. The day's journey will take you to the Big Tree Camp, located at an elevation of around 2,780 meters (9,120 feet). You will spend the night camping at the Big Tree Camp.
Leaving the Big Tree Camp, you will continue your trek through the rainforest. As you gain altitude, the landscape will gradually transition into the heath and moorland zone. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding scenery as you make your way to the Shira 1 Camp, situated at approximately 3,505 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. This campsite provides a picturesque setting for your overnight stay, surrounded by the unique flora and fauna of the area.
Today's trek will take you from the Shira Plateau to the Moir Camp. The trail leads you through the alpine desert, characterized by vast open spaces and rugged terrain. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the breathtaking views of the mountain and its neighboring landscapes. The Moir Camp, located at an elevation of approximately 4,200 meters (13,780 feet), offers a serene atmosphere for resting and acclimatizing.
After a peaceful night at Moir Camp, you will resume your trek towards the Barranco Camp. The trail takes you through the Lava Tower, a prominent volcanic formation, before descending into the spectacular Barranco Valley. This section of the route involves some challenging terrain, including scrambling over rocks and traversing steep slopes. The Barranco Camp, situated at around 3,950 meters (12,960 feet), awaits you with its stunning location and panoramic views.
Leaving the Barranco Camp, you will tackle the famous Barranco Wall, an exhilarating climb that requires some technical skill. As you ascend the wall, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. From there, the trail continues through alpine desert terrain, gradually ascending to the Karanga Camp at an elevation of approximately 4,035 meters (13,200 feet). This campsite serves as a crucial acclimatization stop before the final push to the summit.
Continuing your journey, you will trek from the Karanga Camp to the Barafu Camp. The path leads you through rocky and challenging terrain as you gain altitude. Barafu Camp, situated at around 4,640 meters (15,220 feet), is the final campsite before the summit attempt. Here, you will have a chance to rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the upcoming summit night.
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek as you aim to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak. You will wake up in the middle of the night and begin your ascent under the starry sky. The trek to the summit is steep and demanding, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the peak is unparalleled. After witnessing the sunrise from Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), and then you will start your descent back to the Barafu Camp.
On this final day of the trek, you will descend from the Mweka Camp to the Mweka Gate. The trail takes you through the lush rainforest, offering a refreshing change of scenery. Upon reaching the Mweka Gate, you will be greeted by our trekking crew and receive your summit certificates. From there, you will be transferred back to Moshi, where you can celebrate your achievement and rest after the challenging climb.
