6 Days / Nights
The Umbwe Route is one of the challenging routes to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This seven-day itinerary offers a thrilling and rewarding journey for adventure seekers.
Upon your arrival in Moshi, Tanzania, you will be greeted by Our representatives. They will provide you with a briefing about the climb and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. You will spend the night in a hotel in Moshi, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to the Umbwe Gate, where your trek begins. The trail starts in the rainforest, and you'll hike through dense vegetation, listening to the sounds of wildlife. The first day's trek is relatively short, and you'll reach the Umbwe Cave Camp, where you'll spend the night.
Wake up early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and continue your ascent. The trail steepens as you leave the forest behind and enter the moorland zone. You'll pass stunning landscapes and unique flora. Today's destination is Barranco Camp, situated in a picturesque valley beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.
The fourth day involves tackling the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging climb that rewards you with breathtaking views. The trail then descends into the Karanga Valley before ascending again to the Karanga Camp. The day's trek is shorter, allowing for more rest and acclimatization.
The journey continues to the Barafu Camp, located at an altitude of around 4,600 meters (15,100 feet). The landscape becomes more desolate, and you'll notice the effects of high altitude. Reach the camp in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day resting, hydrating, and mentally preparing for the summit push.
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the climb. Wake up around midnight, have a light meal, and begin the final ascent to the summit of Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb is steep and demanding, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit is unparalleled. After taking in the breathtaking views, descend to Mweka Camp for the night.
The final day of the trek involves descending through the lush rainforest from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. Here, you'll receive your well-deserved summit certificates before transferring back to Moshi. Celebrate your achievement, relax, and reflect on the incredible journey you've just completed.
Remember that climbing Mount Kilimanjaro requires physical fitness, mental strength, and proper acclimatization. It's crucial to follow the guidance of your experienced guide, stay hydrated, and take regular breaks. With determination and preparation, the Umbwe Route can provide an unforgettable adventure and a successful summit of Africa's highest peak.
