Proper preparation, physical fitness, and understanding of the altitude challenges are essential for a successful summit attempt.
Upon your arrival in Moshi, Tanzania, you will be greeted by Our representatives. They will provide you with a briefing about the climb and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. You will spend the night in a hotel in Moshi, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
In the morning, you will be transferred from Moshi to the Rongai Gate, the starting point of the Rongai Route. After completing the registration process, your trekking journey will begin. The trail initially takes you through farmland and pine forests, gradually ascending towards the Simba Camp. Situated at an elevation of approximately 2,650 meters (8,694 feet), this campsite offers stunning views of the surrounding scenery. You will spend the night in tents at the Simba Camp.
Leaving the Simba Camp, you will continue your trek through moorland and heather zones. The trail offers diverse landscapes, showcasing the unique beauty of the mountain. As you ascend, you will reach the Kikelewa Camp, located at around 3,600 meters (11,811 feet) above sea level. This campsite provides a picturesque setting and an opportunity to acclimate to the altitude. You will spend the night in tents at the Kikelewa Camp.
Today's trek takes you further up the mountain, approaching the jagged peak of Mawenzi. The trail traverses alpine desert terrain, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Eventually, you will reach the Mawenzi Tarn Camp, situated at an elevation of approximately 4,310 meters (14,140 feet). This campsite is nestled beneath the towering cliffs of Mawenzi, providing a spectacular backdrop for your overnight stay. You will spend the night in tents at the Mawenzi Tarn Camp.
After breakfast, you will continue your ascent, leaving the Mawenzi Tarn Camp behind. The trail takes you through the stark lunar landscape of the Saddle, a wide expanse between Mawenzi and Kibo. As you approach the Kibo Hut, located at approximately 4,700 meters (15,420 feet), the air becomes thinner, and the challenge intensifies. This campsite serves as the starting point for the final summit push. You will spend the night in huts at the Kibo Hut.
The day begins with a midnight start for the summit attempt. Equipped with headlamps, you will embark on the challenging climb towards Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. The ascent is physically demanding and mentally challenging, but the reward of reaching the summit and witnessing the sunrise over the African continent is truly extraordinary. After spending time at the summit, you will descend back to the Kibo Hut. Following a short rest, you will continue your descent to the Horombo Hut, situated at approximately 3,720 meters (12,204 feet). You will spend the night in huts at the Horombo Hut.
After breakfast, you will begin your descent from the Horombo Hut. The trail takes you through the lush rainforest, offering a refreshing change of scenery. As you descend, you will pass through different vegetation zones, from moorland to heath, and finally back into the dense rainforest. Upon reaching the Marangu Gate, you will complete the necessary formalities and receive your summit certificates. From there, you will be transferred back to Moshi, where you can celebrate your accomplishment and rest after the challenging climb.
